When a product carries the Australian Made logo, it’s been officially certified as meeting strict criteria compliant with Australian Consumer Law. This means the product has been substantially transformed in Australia, and that the final manufacturing or processing has been completed here. In short, it’s proof that you’re supporting local manufacturing, jobs, and quality standards.

No – the logo is a registered certification trademark. Whilst you might see it a lot, only businesses that have gone through the application and approval process have permission to use the logo. Every product must meet the eligibility criteria and is regularly reviewed to ensure it continues to comply with Australian Made’s standards.

It’s easy to assume they mean the same thing, but “Australian Made” refers specifically to products that have been certified under the Australian Made Campaign. “Made in Australia” can be used more loosely, and doesn’t come with the requirement to meet the Australian origin rules – for example, a company that imports products from overseas, and puts the finishing touches on them, could still make claims that those products are made in Australia. It is important to be aware that without the official certification, an ‘Australian Made’ claim hasn’t been independently verified.
